It was a banner weekend for Team Wheeltags with spectacular finishes and WINS in multiple races Friday, April 29th, Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 2nd.

Calvin's Challenge Ultrarace - Springfield OH, Saturday April 30th

Team Wheeltags had a fantastic race on Saturday in breezy Springfield OH. A 4 man relay team of Wayde Klein, Rob Meinzer, Bill Olds and John Singleton rocked the 25 mile and 7 mile circuit with individual racer, and Wheeltags Team Captain Kevin Koval in tow. Burying themselves to fight strong headwinds and maintain Kevin's position in the pack, the 4 man team had a stellar performance and clinched 1st place with a total of 239 miles on the day. Proving their mettle as a team-de-force, Wayde, Rob, Bill and John did an amazing job securing their own win, while keeping Kevin protected and fed, with heaps of support. Their efforts gave Kevin Koval the opportunity to earn a 1st place finish in his age divison (35-39) with 239 miles, as well as a shared spot on the podium for 3rd in the all-around!

Lawrence Twilight Criterium

Doug Fagan, James Clary and Jay Dunbar were keepin' it real on Friday night at the Lawrence Twilight Criterium. Doug, racing with the 1/2/3 brought in a stellar 16th place finish with a sea of fast pros and Cat 5 racers James and Jay took in 4th and 17th places. All of them set up excellent positions to strike for the TKO overall win.

Village of West Clay  - Jim Douglas Memorial Race

All fields were filled with Team Wheeltags on Saturday April 30th at the Village of West Clay, Jim Douglas Memorial Race. Tight and fast turns through the beautiful Village West Clay kept things interesting and spectator friendly. The Cat 5 race saw James Clary and Jay Dunbar finish with a 6th and 25th place respectively. Cat 4/5 race watched Wheeltags Team Captain Matt Tanner bring in some heat on the final stretch to clench 3rd place. Cat 1/2/3 was high and tight with Doug Fagan smiling and suffering his way around the course with a stellar 14th place.

Broad Ripple Criterium

Wet and mucky roads left the top 3 Wheeltags riders wishing for blue skies, but despite the road grime James Clary pushed in for a 7th place show and Jay Dunbar held tight with a 22nd place. After mechanical issues, Doug Fagan dropped out, but not without a strong effort to maintain position in Cat 1/2/3.

After 3 days of racing, James Clary took home the TKO OVERALL in Cat5!

Our cycling caps are tipped to our Wheeltags boys for pushing their limits this weekend. What a show of strength, fitness and perseverence to acheive personal goals, gift certificates and fantastic team support!
